Judy Frenz and Rex

At one time Judy Frenz was a successful artist, selling her valuable works of art Nationally. However, for over twelve years Judy Frenz has been plagued with both Seizures and seizure like panic attacks. She has had 4 to 5 minor seizures daily. She also suffers from "Panic" attacks daily. Her episodes leave her weak, shaken, often with horrible, paralyzing migraine headaches, and sometimes lapse of memory.

She has been to over 20 different Doctors, seeking medical relief from them, with no, or very little success. She has used all the standard treatments, and been a "ginny pig" for several others.

Judy called us last year, shortly after we got a pup named "Rex", from a couple who wanted him trained as a Service Assistance K9s for them. We also tried the standard approach, waiting for Judy to come up with a standard down payment, so we could train a K9 for her, but to no avail. Judy couldn't raise the money. People thought it was a con, and refused to help this woman.

Judy would call weekly and explain her predicament, sometimes after a particularly violent episode when she was scared and realized the gravity of her situation. To make things worse, she lived in a bad neighborhood, and her neighbors belonged to city gangs. She was threatened with bodily harm, assault, and murder, several times this past year, and needed protection.

Traditional Service Assistance K9 schools do not, most could not in any way, produce protection trained K9s for their recipients. They have enough trouble with obedience work. However, people with disabilities are attacked three times as often as those without disabilities. Criminals are lazy, too.

Well, you aren't supposed to be able to train a dog that can smell, feel, and receive the electro-magnetic energy, understanding and alerting to it properly, and communicating that to the handler. So, since we are already politically incorrect, we also train our K9s for protection, according to the letter of the law, and in 2007 stopped over a dozen criminals from victimizing our DOGWISH recipients.

Rex came into training with us because he was too aggressive with the couple that brought him. In fact, the original owner came with the wife, because she couldn't handle him. Rex was scared, a little abused, in need of help at that time, and I went to work on him immediately. We don't teach tricks here, we teach true behaviors. Rex quickly became one of my favorite dogs. We bonded quickly and closely. I then introduced him to several other handler/trainers, and we re-focused his disposition. However, 7 weeks into the training, the couple called and explained that they were not going to pay me for the training, or come out and work with Rex, because they were separating, and didn't need him anymore. So, I kept Rex and decided to train him for Judy.

It took us 8 months to finish Rex for Judy Frenz. During that time she moved and got ready for this dog. She came down on Friday, February 1st, 2008. Rex isn't the kind of dog you just walk up and pet. He watches his handler closely, and is totally alert to everything around him at the same time. He is intense, focused, and always ready. It took Judy 1 hour and he was working with her. By the end of the day he was her dog. The next day he went to Judy like she was his best friend. We went out to stores, the mall, restaurants, etc., and she handled the dog without a problem. It was like they were made for each other..and they were.

In 2006 DOGWISH placed over 25 such K9s with recipients like Judy, and so far every single dog has been a success. We can do the same for you!
