Ryan Arellanes
RYAN is 13 years old and ready for High School next year. However, he has been professionally diagnosed with a higher functioning Autistic disability called "Asberger's Syndrome", has several behavioral issues he is dealing with, and needs your help. Ryan has no social skills or life. He spends most of his time by himself, in his room. He has endured problems with his father, is ridiculed by his piers at school, and was seriously beaten in a bathroom at school. Subsequently, he will not go anywhere alone. He doesn't go outside, and when he does go out wants his mom or sister to be right there. He's scare all the time. He knows he's different, and feels other people don't like him. Ryan has not been able to successfully establish friendships. Kids at school call him stupid, tell him to go away and call him weird. Numerous times time year Ryan has gone to the school nurse, trying to get her to send him home, to avoid the stress of the classroom. Ryan usually retreats into a world of video games or internet gaming where his reality can become anything he chooses. A big problem for Ryan is that he is in many ways very intelligent, and yet he can't communicate what he thinks verbally, so he just keeps it all inside. This is a major problem for a lot of young people with Autism; their brain has been tricked into not communicating with their bodies, and they are forced to live frustrated lives. Ryan is retreating into a paranoid world and we haven't been able to stop his progression. That's why we contacted the DOGWISH Foundation.
The DOGWISH Foundation is nationally famous for their Service Assistance K9s for the Autistic, Seizure, and Neurologically disabled communities. They have for several years been successful with hundreds of families in helping to transform the lives of K9 recipients with dogs trained to assist them in overcoming their disabilities. "Tenshi" was picked out by DOGWISH for Ryan, and then he unknowingly picked her out of 50 dogs by himself. She will be trained as a guide dog, a seizure alert K9, a modified Police K9, and a Psychiatric K9, (to detect the emotional energies created by an oncoming meltdown and he can provide a calming touch or distraction). If Ryan wanders off, Tenshi is being trained in Search & Rescue. If someone is aggressive toward Ryan, Tenshi is being trained in Handler Protection. She will help us to bring him out of his isolation, and into a more socially safe environment. She will help him develop friendships easier, and to live a happier, more balanced life.
RYAN NEEDS YOUR HELP: It takes a team of professionals to produce an animal with the level of skills and abilities that are necessary to become and Autism Assistance K-9. A dog like Tenshi would typically cost $30,000. DOGWISH Foundation has donated $20,000 on Ryan's behalf. Now we must raise $10,000 to cover the costs of the extensive training that Tenshi, Ryan, and the rest of the family must undergo in the next few years to learn how to work together. In a few months Tenshi will provide Ryan with the security and confidence to experience freedoms that until now were not possible for him.
Your tax deductible donation to THE DOGWISH FOUNDATION will help us cover the costs of Ryan's Assistance K-9. Please support Ryan and share this letter with anyone that would consider making a donation in Ryan's name.
Your generosity and support (whether financial or simply in prayers) is greatly appreciated.
