Jered and Justin Baceras
COULD YOU HELP US PROVIDE SPECIAL HELP FOR JERED AND JUSTIN?
My sons are seven years old and were diagnosed with Autism at 2yrs old. I scheduled an assessment to be done at the regional center. I was told after the observation that Justin and Jered had Severe Autism. I was in shock and could not believe these words. I walked out of the office with a label of Autism. I struggled for several months not knowing how to help the boys.
To see my playful laughing little boys disappear into their own world was very difficult. I did not know how to pull them out of these states of behaviors. Every night I would cry myself to sleep asking; why could this have happened to me? I always feel like they were not given a fair chance to experience life. Autism felt like a death sentence because the lack of resources available. Our family suffered many hardships because we were in the dark and knew little about Autism.
For the next several years our family pushed real hard to cope. Justin has always been a leader and master's tasks before Jered. He is very determined and intelligent but, tends to be timid at times. Jered is passive and affectionate in all of his actions. His laughter and smiles melt my heart to pieces. They are very unique individuals with different personalities. The boys both work very hard on the basic functional skills such as attention skills, and daily living skills. The behaviors that are exhibited make caring for the boys very difficult. The impact on the entire family is overwhelming and stressful.
Our family has a sense of relief since we have learned about the DOGWISH Foundation. DOGWISH has already helped us incredibly. DOGWISH placed a dog with us, Maddy, who was specifically chosen for the boys based on their personalities and needs. Maddy just happened to be the personal pet of their head trainer, and he selflessly placed her with us because of the boys. On a daily basis our family has seen improvement in wanted and a decrease in Autistic behaviors. She has been a blessing to our family. She has provided:
- A distraction to deter them from stimming all day and withdrawing into the corner. Maddy can go to their mental state of mind and help them to focus on our world. The boys will lie next to Maddy and make eye contact. They play with Maddy and she encourages them to communicate. They are becoming more social, and more responsive because of Maddy.
- We tether the boys to Maddy. She guides them through the stores, busy streets, restaurants, etc., and keeps them focused and safe. They are learning to listen better.
- The other siblings have established a sense of security because of Madeline in the household. She has brought a new beginning to our family and we hope and pray to keep her in our home.
We have contracted to pay DOGWISH for Maddy. We need your help to raise $10,000.00, about 1/4 of what she is worth.
Please send a generous donation to us, or contact The DOGWISH Corporation at www.dogwishfoundation.org, or call them at (760) 662-3767. It will mean life for Jered and Justin, and hope for us.
