Jacob Seacker

My name is Jacob Seacker. I am a young 12 year old with As Berger's Syndrome, higher functioning Autism, attention deficit disorder, oppositional defiance disorder, and a host of other disabling problems, that I'm trying to cope with and survive at home, school, and in life. I like the other kids at school, but I really don't have any close friends because they all know I have disabilities, and either ignore or shun me like I had a plague or something. I need a friend, a true friend that believes in me, loves me, care about me, will go places with me so I'm not so lonely, and don't feel like nobody cares or likes me. Of course my parents love me, they have to, but I need somebody special that is there for me because they want to be.

My mom took me to the Dogwish Foundation where they had one special dog, a big, black, beautiful German shepherd, named Thor, who they said needed a friend, too. Thor wasn't like the other dogs; he was soft, loving, focused, responsive, and quiet. Thor walks right by my side, listens to me, gives me hugs and kisses, and wants to be with me. I love Thor. I don't feel so excluded when he's around. I don't feel lonely, embarrassed, hurt, angry, frustrated, or demeaned when I am around him, because he goes out of his way to be my friend.

The Doctor says I have low self-esteem because of being bullied and tormented by the kids at school. I don't feel so scared when Thor is with me. Things bother me that don't bother the other kids in classes, like water running through pipes, the chemicals they use in our classrooms, the lights they use, etc., but I notice that when I have Thor I can concentrate more.

Thor is trained as a modified Police K9, a Search K9, a Seizure Alert K9, and a Psychiatric K9. He is trained to be "brainwave and body functioning" and alerts when he senses me having a panic attack or becoming emotionally upset. Mostly, he's the best friend I've ever had.
