Celia Sherry

Hi everyone! Celia's recovery efforts are bearing fruit and she has made astounding strides. It has been our goal for the past few years to put "giving her joyful experiences" at the top of our "must do" list, after all, that is what childhood should be all about. Autism, Primary Immune Deficiency and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity have taken most of those carefree, full of laughter moments and replaced them with anxiety, being tired, illness, doctors, supplements, blood draws, sensory overload, therapy, behavior plans, picture schedules and frazzled parents.

We have two wonderful "sure fire" ways to put a smile on Celia's face and help in her recovery. We started Therapeutic Horseback riding at AZ Dream Catcher Equestrians. This provides us with therapeutic riding every week, which otherwise we would not be able to afford. I must tell you about the smile that lasted hours after she had "control" over the horse and trotted for the first time, solo. She was SOOOO proud of herself.

We also found an organization that is dedicated to providing service dogs to children with autism, The DOGWISH Foundation. Their dog will be specifically trained to connect with Celia through her scent. This dog will be her confidant, protector, stress reliever & alert system. We are hopeful that the dog will help interrupt her meltdowns or explosive behavior with his presence or a gentle nudge. He will be able to provide her calming deep pressure during sensory overload or stressful new situations. Her anxiety of being alone and many fears will be curbed with the constant presence of her "best friend," one who doesn't judge her or expect her to be brave. He will provide the service of confidant and sleeping companion, in a world that seems unsafe and assaults her senses and sensibilities, while she is awake and asleep. She will reveal to him her deepest, darkest thoughts, (and there are many) that her fear we won't love and accept her anyway, stops her from sharing with us, no matter how non judgmental we try to be. A service dog will help in her recovery in more ways than I can probably even imagine.

Jim and I are excited about both these opportunities to bring Celia more fully to become the girl God had planned for her to be. She has been such a gift to us and like every parent, we just want her to be healthy and happy. If you have been so blessed, please consider playing an integral part in Celia's FULL recovery.

Support us and share this letter with anyone that would please consider making a tax-deductible donation in Celia's name or you may contact me, Roseann Sherry at 480-917-8002 or rsherry1969@aol.com. We need to raise a $2500 down payment for the service dog, ($10,000.00 in all). We also welcome prayers toward this effort or easy fundraising ideas (remember, Celia can't be in most public places).

Thank you so much!!!
